Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs today (May 4) seized about 2.5 kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine (ice) at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and arrested a man. The market value of the drugs was about $1.1 million.

Customs officers found five bags of suspected methamphetamine weighing in a total of about 2.5 kilogrammes inside a food gift box carried by an incoming male passenger during passenger clearance atmidnight.

The arrestee, aged 20, claimed as unemployed, will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (May 5).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
